ACROS Fukuoka

Fukuoka is located in the north of Kyushu island in Japan. It is well-known to be a compact and stress-free conference zone in a highly attractive city with rich food, culture, and hospitality.
Convenient connection from the World and Asia is another attractive point. The Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, which enshrines the god of academic achievement, is a popular destination for tourists.

Getting There

Flights:
Fukuoka Airport (AP) is connected by direct flights from major cities in Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore.
Upon arrival at the international airports of Tokyo (NRT or HND), Nagoya (NGO), or Osaka (KIX), passengers can easily transfer to domestic flights to Fukuoka.

By train:
Take the Shinkansen (Super Express) or a local train to JR Hakata Station. Take the Subway Airport Line at Hakata Station bound for Meinohama or Nishi-Karatsu and get off at Tenjin Station. Walk through the underground shopping mall for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at ACROS from Exit 16.

From Fukuoka Airport to ACROS:
Take the shuttle bus from the International Terminal to the Domestic Terminal, then board the Subway Airport Line at Fukuoka AP Station bound for Meinohama or Nishi-Karatsu. Get off at Tenjin Station and walk through the underground shopping mall for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at ACROS from Exit 16.

Taxi

Taxis are widely available in Fukuoka, with the meter beginning at 600 or 700 yen. Please ask your driver in advance if you wish to pay by credit card.

Money Matters

The local currency is the Japanese yen. Most stores will not accept any other currency. For shopping and dining, payment by credit card is generally accepted throughout Japan, but some business, especially smaller establishments, require payment in cash. VISA and MasterCard are the most commonly accepted card brands.

Unfortunately, many ATMs are not equipped to accept cards issued outside of Japan. Please consult your hotel concierge or card issuer website for help locating an international ATM. ATMs at most Japan Post locations accept all VISA and MasterCard credit and debit cards.

Tipping

There is no custom of individual tipping in Japan. Tips are usually included in the bill as a service charge, if need.

Climate

In October, the average daytime temperature in Fukuoka is between 19-23℃

Electricity

The standard electricity supply is 100 volts, provided from A-plug (US style) two prong outlets.

Water

Tap water is safe to drink, but bottled mineral waters are available at most hotels and at any convenience store or supermarket.

Local Time

Japan Standard Time (JST) is 9 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +9). There is no daylight savings time in Japan.

Medical Emergencies

All participants are advised to ensure they have medical insurance coverage before traveling to Japan.
